Online Classes Technical Hardware/Software Requirements

In order to take an online course, you will need to meet some minimum technical requirements.

 

NOTE:  Your computer must have updated Virus Protection Software.   Either Norton or McAfee current virus software installed on your computer.

Software may be downloaded at the following sites:

NOTE:  Students interested in taking COMS 491 Adobe Elements 7 need the following Hardware and Software requirements:
 

You must have Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 software installed on your computer.
 
HARDWARE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS FOR ADOBE PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 7 CLASS:

....2 GHz or faster processor
....Microsoft Windows XP
...1 GB or Ram
...1.5 GB of available hard-disk space
...Color monitor with 16-bit color video card
...Microsoft Direct X9 compatible display drive
...CD-ROM Drive
...Web features require Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 04 7
...High speed internet connection
 

 

All other classes:  Minimum requirements

1.  HARDWARE:

PC

  • Pentium 150MHZ or faster processor

  • Windows XP

  • Recommended  2.70 Ghz, 504 MB Ram

  • 56kbps modem or faster.  High Speed connection preferred

MACINTOSH

  • Mac OS 7.5.5 or Later

  • Power PC Processor

  • 16MB Ram/32MB recommended

  • 28.8 kpbs modem or faster

2.      INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER

 

An Internet Service Provider (ISP) is a company that provides you with the software needed for connecting with the Internet.   

 

3.  SOFTWARE

You will need a Java a capable Browser.  Recommended is Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 (or higher) /Outlook Express E-mail or Netscape Navigator 4.0 (or higher).  Your Internet Service Provider provided you with a browser.  Either of the above Browsers will be acceptable to use with our Online Classes.

 

You can download either browser free of charge on the Internet:.  You will receive instructions on how to download one of these browsers.

4.        E-MAIL ACCOUNT:

 

An e-mail account is established for you when you sign up with an ISP.

5.  TECHNICAL SUPPORT:
Your local provider should be able to provide most of the technical support that you require.

 

6.  MANUAL

You do not need any manual for the classes I teach.  I will send you a CD Rom Disk that will have all
course work and tutorials needed for each class.  The cost is $5.00 per class and you will be charged this amount when your enroll.
